How many your site needs
OSHA sets the legal minimum for construction: one toilet for 20 or fewer workers, and for bigger crews one toilet seat and one urinal per 40 workers. Treat that as the floor.
Sites that get weekly service do better with about one unit for every ten workers on a 40-hour week. Longer shifts, weekend work or a crew that grows partway through all push that number up.

Full by Thursday
Put a single unit on a site with fifteen people and it's full well before the service truck comes back. By Thursday nobody wants to go near it, and the crew starts leaving the site to find a restroom.
Getting the count right fixes most of it. The rest is access, because the service truck has to reach every unit each week. If a pallet of block gets dropped in front of one, that unit gets skipped.

Don't box units in with material drops or parked equipment.

Firm and flat. Soft ground after rain is the usual problem.
